While we are thankful that the human toll was low, we must not forget the many members of our community who lost everything they own. For this reason, I am asking those who can to make a special offering that will be used to help the victims of the hurricane.

It is with a great sense of burden and sadness in my heart as I prepare this note to you. Like you, I have seen such utter devastation and calamity unfolding before our eyes in the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti.
News outlets are doing a tremendous job in sharing the details of this disaster, and it seems that each day provides more insight into the plight of the people of Haiti.
Governments are springing into action, and of course, the United States continues to take the lead in situations such as this, especially with the reality that this is a very close neighbor.
