“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:5)
We are reminded in Matthew 6:21 that “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” The work we do in the mission field is “heart” work. It is not something that a college degree necessarily qualifies us to do – it is something that God calls us to do. It is not always our ability, but our availability by which He chooses us.
Mr. and Mrs. David Smith 1234 Right Way Fort Worth, Texas 00000
Dear Mr. Smith:
One of my favorite scriptures is found in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans to give you hope and a future.”
We do not always know why God calls us to do what he calls us to do; only that He has a reason and that we need to be obedient to His call.
It is a blessing to serve God in the mission field each and every day. It is an even greater blessing to know that “Before they (we) call, I (he) will answer; and while they (we) are yet speaking I (He) will hear.” (Isaiah 65:24)
We know that God knows what we need before we even pray or ask for it. We know that He is able to meet those needs, and we trust Him to do so. He has been faithful and true to His word.
“We thank God for our every remembrance of you . . .” We often think of life back home and all of you who worship together and we miss you badly. However, we also know that we have been called, “For such a time as this.” We know with uncertainty that we are where God has called us and wants us to be.
