What a wonderful time of the year it is when we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
As with any year, we enter this season with it's own set of unique challenges and events, yet we know Christ is still the same “yesterday, today, and forever”.
There is no other day of the year that holds the significance of what we celebrate on Easter Sunday – the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Savior. It was a day of joy and celebration then and it is a day of joy and celebration now. What we celebrated then is what we continue to celebrate today – that we serve a risen Lord.
A spirit of thankfulness will take us far in helping us to appreciate the little things around us, as well as those things we might consider “bigger blessings”. It's amazing to think that everything that comes into our lives first of all is sifted through the loving hands of our Heavenly Father!
Luke 2:10-12 (ASV) 10 And the angel said unto them, Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all the people: 11 for there is born to you this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this is the sign unto you: Ye shall find a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, and lying in a manger.
On behalf of the leadership here at First Christian Church, I wanted to take this opportunity greet you during this wonderful time of year as we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
In these challenging times, it is assuring to know that we have an anchor that holds strong in spite of storms that arise from time to time. Many of these storms are literal storms in the form of tragic weather events, while others may be financial, political, or family struggles.
