Psalm 106:1 – Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; His love endures forever.
One of the great themes of the Bible is that we are to be a people of Thanksgiving, not just one particular day of the year, but as Christians, we are to be thankful daily.
On behalf of the Congregation here at First Christian Church, I wanted to take a moment to send a note to let you know we are thinking about you during this special time of the year.
You’ll be excited to know that our annual Fall Harvest Party will be on October _________ at 6pm in the Fellowship Hall and you are cordially invited. Year after year children and youth have been attending this exciting event filled with all sorts of activities and fun. The children and youth pastors have put a great deal of time and effort into making this event one of our most popular events of the year!
First Christian Church’s Fall Harvest Party is not only for members of this church but for the community as well. We like to think of this evening as a great time for outreach to those who are in need of love, life, and fellowship. Feel free to bring your friends, family, and neighbors to this fun-filled evening and let the spirit of love soar.
We are looking forward to a wonderful service the Sunday before Thanksgiving as we take time to appreciate and express our thanks to the Lord for His bountiful blessings in our lives.
I’m reminded a bit about a tremendous story in the Bible, Luke 17:11-19 where Jesus healed ten lepers. Yet, while 9 of the lepers went their way rejoicing in their healing, only 1 of them in fact turned around to go back to express his thanks to the Lord for the miracle that had taken place in his life.
Imagine that! 1 out of 10 said thank you! We are often so quick to correct and instruct our children when it comes to the importance of saying, “thank you.” You and I are challenged on a weekly basis, and yes, even daily, to express our love and appreciation to the Lord.
Once again we are nearing that wonderful time of year in which we express our thanks and appreciation to God for all His blessings in our lives as we celebrate Thanksgiving.
Some may look at Thanksgiving as a quick holiday before the Christmas Season, but in reality, this is an extremely meaningful time as we who have been created by God show our gratitude.
I wanted to take a moment to send you this letter of invitation to Revival Services with Evangelist (FIRST NAME, LAST NAME), which will be held here at FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH on OCTOBER 20-23.
Rev. _____________ will be ministering on Sunday morning, and will continue the services each night beginning at 7:00 PM.
It's somewhat amazing to me that we often don't hear the term “Revival Services” used as much today as just a few years ago, yet if there is ever a day the church is in need of Revival, it is today!
Isaiah reminds us that God's presence is not only in the “high and holy place”, but it is also with “him who is contrite and lowly in spirit” as we read in Isaiah 57:15 (NIV) 15 For this is what the high and lofty One says– he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.
