As you may know, the month of February is a time that has been set aside to honor and appreciate the sacrifices of African-Americans who have had an impact on our nation.

Prior to 1976, the celebration time was one week as Mayors all over the Nation gave proclamations of the importance of recognizing and appreciating accomplishments of African-Americans.

I wanted to take this opportunity to extend a warm invitation to you and your family to join us here at FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH during the entire month of February for Black History Month.

During each service, we will take some time to reflect upon those who have paid such a high price in the struggle for many of the rights and privileges we enjoy today.  Yes, while there is still a long way to go, without a doubt, Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream is being realized more and more with each passing year.

Invitation to Valentine’s Day at Church

Greetings in Christ!

1 Corinthians 13:13 (NKJV) 13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Valentine's Day is February 14th (as always), but this year February 14th is on a Sunday!

Jesus says in Matthew 22:39, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” But we know that it's preceded by another and greater commandment. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.”

While we realize Valentine's Day's primary purpose is the expression of love between each other, the foundation for the kind of love God wants us to have is in the Word of God!
