===========================
Greetings in Christ,
As I write this letter, many within our church family are going through challenging circumstances as they assess the damages from Hurricane (NAME).
For so many of us, life will never be the same as family heirlooms and treasures have been washed away. Homes have either been destroyed or significantly damaged as the ferocity of the Hurricane was highly intense in this area.
If you're anything like me (and I'm sure you are), there is that aspect of our humanity that tends to ask the “why” question as we go through trials like this. Sadly, we may never know the answer to the “why” question this side of heaven. This fact alone will often lead people away from the Lord, but I would encourage you today to put your complete trust in Him like never before.
While we all grieve about loss in our lives, we must realize grieving is a normal process. This may sound cliche, but I heard someone say once that in all we go through in life, we will either become “bitter or better.” Unfortunately, I believe we are facing such a situation right now.
My goal in sharing this letter is not to cast judgment on anyone who may be feeling the sting of loss but to let you know that God not only sees but He cares.
I want to share one of the most comforting chapters in the Bible, which is quite familiar to all of us:
Psalm 23:1-6 (NKJV) 1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.
I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God will be with all of us as we move forward “one day at a time.” While it won't be easy, we are blessed to know that God will never leave us or forsake us as His Word says in Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV) 5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
This life is not all there is. This earth is groaning as we look forward to the soon return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Heaven awaits us, and one day, we will know that our eternal abode is so much greater than our temporary abode called earth.
Please know that we are here to serve you, love, and care for you as God enables. If there's anything I can do personally, please don't hesitate to contact me at 555-555-5555 or email me.
We love our church family!
In Christ,
