Winter is rapidly approaching, and with winter comes the cold temperatures that present such a challenge for our homeless population.
For the past six years, FCC has been able to partner with Outreach Ministries, an organization dedicated to serving the homeless here in our city. Outreach provides weekly meals, counseling services, legal advice and social services to people who find themselves living on the streets. They also hold weekly Bible studies and a church service on Sunday mornings.
This time of year is amazing! It's a wonderful time when we cast our focus on the miracle of Christ's birth over 2,000 years ago as He left the splendor of heaven to humble Himself and walk the dusty roads of Israel speaking life and healing into the lives of the people.
I still believe we serve the same God today! How many lives we have seen come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and their lives have been completely changed by His power. For people who know the Lord, it's so much more than endless gifts and expenses at this time of year, but it's about living a relationship with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords on a daily basis.
It's hard to believe, but Christmas is almost here! It seems like it was just a “few days ago” since last Christmas, but as you know, time passes quickly!
This is usually the most anticipated time of year for children all across our nation and the world as parents do their best to give them a Christmas they will remember for a long time. I don't know about you, but some of my fondest memories of Christmas don't really have to do with “big toys” or “expensive gifts”, but good quality family time.
I wanted to take this opportunity to send a note of encouragement to get involved in a ministry of practical and spiritual value which serves many people in need on both a weekly and monthly basis. This ministry is our Food Ministry called (NAME OF FOOD MINISTRY).
This ministry has been part of our church for (NUMBER OF YEARS), and in that time has been a tremendous blessing to hundreds within our community who have needed the resources we have to offer. It has been a great joy to serve them!
