Once again, we are coming to the close of another Summer. For many, it seems the Summer days go by way too fast and for a few others, these days simply signify another season just around the corner… football season!
Actually, during the month of September as many are settling back into their schools and jobs following vacation, we also know this is a time for people to look to the church once again for inspiration and fellowship.
What a wonderful time of the year! Once again, it is time to “give honor where honor is due” here at (NAME OF CHURCH) by honoring all Mothers who attend our services on Mother's Day.
We are of the belief of course that Mothers should be honored on a daily basis, and not just one day out of an entire year, yet it is always such a joy to simply take time during our services to recognize and appreciate those who give so much, and in so many ways.
A teacher gave her class of second graders a lesson on the magnet and what it does. The next day in a written test, she included this question: ” My full name has six letters. The first one is M. I pick up things. What am I?” When the test papers were turned in, the teacher was astonished to find that almost 50 percent of the students answered the question with the word Mother.
I write this letter on behalf of the entire congregation here at (Name of Church) to extend an invitation to join us for a very special service this Memorial Day Weekend.
During this service, we want to designate time to appreciate the sacrifice of those who have served, and lost their lives in wars to defend our nation.
We serve a RISEN Lord – a man who was sent to this earth as a baby, who walked and lived as a man. He was later crucified and that could have been the end of the story. As a matter of fact some people worship “gods” that lived and died and they celebrate the anniversary of their deaths. However, as Christians we celebrate the life, death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
