On Sunday, December 24th at 9:00 and 11:00 am we will be celebrating our annual Christmas Eve services. Because Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday this year, we will be celebrating in our morning services and will not be holding a special service in the evening. As we approach the advent season, many of us will be preparing for company. The holidays are a wonderful time and often bring distant friends and family together for quality time to celebrate the coming of our Lord. Many of us are anticipating a lot of joy, laughs, and great food. Tables will be set and houses adorned with shining lights and many shades of green, red, and white. The glowing Christmas trees reminds us of the tree of life who is Christ. Logged in Members, CLICK HERE to view and/or copy full text!
On Wednesday, November 21 at 5:30 in the evening, we will be gathering together as a church for our annual Thanksgiving Eve service, and we would love to have you join us, and bring family and friends to this special service celebrating our many blessings.
Thanksgiving has been celebrated as an official national holiday in the US since 1864, when, during the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of “Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens,” to be celebrated on the last Thursday in November. Dear Friends and Family of FCC, Sunday, November 19th is our annual all-church Thanksgiving Service and on behalf of the entire pastoral staff, I would like to invite you to join us. Thanksgiving is a time of celebration, recognizing the gifts that we have been given throughout the year.
As a church, we will gather together to honor these blessings, and to look forward into the new year with anticipation at what the Lord is going to do.
On Sunday, December 11, 2017, we as a church will be holding a special church anniversary service, commemorating 104 years of ministry at First Christian Church. We are planning to hold one service that morning instead of our usual two, and our time will be followed by a catered luncheon downstairs in the Fellowship Hall and then Christmas caroling in the neighborhood. Sunday, September 15th is our annual church Homecoming Service and on behalf of the entire pastoral staff, I would like to invite you to join us.
We celebrate Homecoming each year, taking the time to look back over the blessings of the past year and forward into the future with anticipation for what the Lord is going to do in the year to come. It is also a time for those who have been a part of our church body in the past to “come home” and join us to celebrate their time as a part of our congregation. Next Sunday, September 17th, is our annual “Back to Church Sunday”. Summer is winding down, the kids are heading back to school and we are kicking off our Fall season with a special service and time of fellowship.
After a time away, such as many of us have had this summer, it is good to come back together and remember who we are and what we believe.
We are united under the Gospel of Jesus Christ as one body. We have common beliefs, purposes and goals, and spending time together strengthens our bonds, drawing us closer together and helping each of us to sharpen our faith “…as iron sharpens iron.” (Proverbs 27:17 NIV) Logged in Members, CLICK HERE to view and/or copy full text!
