A prayer ministry is an essential aspect to a church that wants to make an impact on their church and community. Often, we can go “through the motions”, but prayer is the way we communicate with God!
These letters are written by a Pastor with over 35 years of ministry experience. They will be a great addition to your follow up efforts to reach your community for Christ!
Each year, as Lent approaches, many Christians find themselves asking what they should “give up for Lent.” Though it is not mandatory for a Protestant believer to do so, it has become a tradition in many denominations to fast or abstain from something (food, vices, or other daily enjoyments).
Like you, I have watched the tragic events that have unfolded in Afghanistan, impacting so many thousands of people.
Among those thousands that have been affected are brothers and sisters in Christ. They are either being beaten or killed for their profession of faith in Jesus.
So many of us feel helpless to do anything to help them, and most likely, in a physical sense, that's the case. Yet, we can pray that God will give them strength like the first martyr of the Christian church, Stephen, as he was being stoned to death. Acts 7:59-60 (NKJV) 59 And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” 60 Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
I trust this letter finds you and your loved ones doing well, especially in these challenging times we are now living.
We are so blessed to live in a nation that protects the rights to worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in a congregational setting. Yet, perhaps there are times we take it for granted that this will always be the case.
Even though I’m a fan of technology, it seems like there’s no escaping it, even if you wanted to. In our modern, digital world, it’s easy to work around the clock: our cell phones are always on and everyone expects their text messages and emails to be answered instantaneously.
