We are fast approaching the holiday season, with all of its warm thoughts and friendly smiles. All around the world, people are immersing themselves in the spirit of the season. I wanted to send you and your family my best wishes during this time.
We both know that Christmas is more than just a holiday; it is a holy day. It is a time when we are most reminded of God’s gift to the world of his only son, the Christ child, to raise us up out of our condition into Grace. I know that with all of the shopping and cooking and merriment, our most important priority as Christians can be unintentionally obscured. It is important to remember the story of our Savior’s birth in order to regain clarity.
We can read in Psalms 127:1 that “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”
And unless the people of God help build the house, then can no house be built!
We are getting ready to start the next phase of our construction project, and I am appealing to each of you to seek God’s will about how much He would have you to give towards this effort.
Imagine if your employer withheld your paycheck. How would you pay your bills if what was yours was withheld from you? Would you continue to bless you employer with good work if he was not giving you your due each week? Of course not! But some people expect God to continue to bless them, even when they withhold what is God’s by not paying their tithes.
The Bible tells us in Luke 6:38 “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
I wanted to encourage you that you are in a position to receive God’s blessings because you have been faithful to give to the ministry of the Lord. Your faithfulness to tithe is appreciated, but most importantly, never overlooked by God.
The year is winding down and once again, Fall is here. The colors of summer are fading as vacations end and children head back to school. This is the season that brings us Thanksgiving and leads into our celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, Christmas. For some, these holidays are reminders of the fact that we are called upon to share our blessings with our neighbors I would like to thank you for making a year-round effort and let you know how much your work has been appreciated.
